Sabbath Afternoon Program

The Sabbath afternoon Program will consist of a half hour combined program from 2.00 to 2.30 pm before breaking into workshops from 2.30 to 4.30 pm. Workshops are as follows:
Building Faith with Julie Weslake (Director of Children’s Ministries for the South Pacific Division)
Sabbath plays a key role in building the faith of children – a faith that ‘sticks’, that lasts a lifetime. We have the greatest opportunity to build faith through beliefs and attitudes before the age of 14 years, however whether we achieve this is dependent on HOW we teach and what happens in that crucial hour we have together in Sabbath School. It depends on whether we manage to transform the child’s heart and lifestyle. It also depends on how well we impact the home and the people who live 24/7 with children.
This workshop will give ideas and strategies for faith development in both the church and home.

Alpha Course Training with Alvin Schick (Chaplain for Sanitarium Health & Welbeing)
The Alpha course has proved to be an effective tool in reaching secular people and introducing them to Christianity. The course is based around small groups hosted by one or two leaders whose role is to facilitate and encourage discussion. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment. This workshop will teach how to use the Alpha Course from an Adventist perspective and will also include teaching skills that are applicable to similar style outreach events.

REACH with Graeme Drinkall (Chief Financial Officer for the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference), Pr Jean-Noel Adeline (Director of Church Development for the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference), and Pr Damien Rice (President of South New Zealand Conference). Hear about the exciting plans for REACH Christchurch 2013. Be inspired and learn how you can be involved.
